Sewing For Baby: Take Home Outfit

My sweet little Stella turned one last week!?!?
How did that happen.
It seems like it was yesterday and a million years ago at the same time.
Isn't that how your babies growing up feels?
I have a bunch of half written posts to finish and share so, I'll start with this one : )

I made this outfit for Stella to come home in from the hospital.
I ended up finding something different to bring her home in but she still wore this in the hospital and after we were home.
I started with a blank baby gown and this tank top.  Someone gave it to me when they returned some borrowed maternity clothes.

I used a seem ripper to untack the flowers off of it.  I had enough to make the baby gown and a headband.  It was a REALLY EASY project.  You could hand sew if you wanted, but I just tacked them down with the sewing machine quickly.  I took a piece of the connected flowers and put an elastic band on it for the headband.
I also made a little gauze blanket to go with it.

It would be a really cute baby gift for someone.

Here she is in the hospital wearing it.

Here she is a week old with her sister.

Aww, these sweet little girls!  I cannot believe this was a year ago!

What I've Been Sewing: Junebug Dress

Sometimes when Alaire is getting dressed or picking something out of her closet, she makes custom requests.  This is one of those.  The other day she said she needed a blue polka dot dress.  I told her she didn't have one.  She said I could make it for her.
She thought I was going to do that before we left that morning.
I can whip one up fast, but not that fast!

This was a really quick sew.  The pattern is a free pattern and tutorial from one of my FAVORITE sewing blogs Craftiness is Not Optional.  It's called the Junebug.
The fabric is quilting fabric from JoAnn and I can't remember where I got the buttons from but Alaire found them in my button stash and liked them.

I skipped the elastic in the arms because i like the way it looked when I was fitting it.

I wanted Drew to take a picture of Alaire and I together.  We were on the way to a graduation party.  She was goofing around the whole time.
Just a typical moment with a three year old.
Her jumping off of the stones and me trying to keep that dress from getting grass stained before we even leave the house.

Thanks for reading! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Stella One Shoulder Dress

If you follow me on instagram, then you have already seen this dress.

The pattern is the Stella One Shoulder Dress by Violet Field Threads.  It is the second pattern I have made of theirs and I have LOVED both.

Alaire was being goofy, but I did get a few pictures.

It fits her like a glove, which is a win for me. It zips up the side and ties in the back.

The fabric is by Michael Miller.  It is so soft.  I love all of his stuff.

I bought it in Minneapolis at a fabric warehouse and have been waiting to use it on the right project.

Alaire loves it and tried it on without a fight!  I will definitely be using this pattern again.
Thanks for reading.  Have a good weekend!

What I've been sewing...

I did a decent amount of sewing in February and the beginning of March. I kept thinking I was going to take pictures of Alaire in the clothes, but that just didn't happen.  She's just not into it right now : )
I think I need a three year old sized mannequin.  My current one is for a one year old and it's not quite cutting it, but I have been using it anyway!
Anyway, here is what I have made lately...

Valentine's Dress
Pattern by Lil' Blue Boo

I couldn't pass up all of these prints.  I decided to make pillowcase dresses  for a friend's twin girls'  birthdays.

This is a vintage pattern that I have had sitting in a drawer, just waiting for Alaire to get big enough to wear it.

Love the sailor collar.
These shorts are to be worn with the top above.  They are high waisted and so cute with the shirt tucked in.  I had pinned a pair of womens' shorts a while back and decided to finally make them.

This has already been worn to death.  I love it as much as Alaire.
Pattern is by Figgy's Patterns

Don't you want a maxi dress like this of your own?  I do.  I was unsure of how it would look and function on a busy three year old, but it is perfect.  She was on cloud nine and couldn't quit spinning around.  I will definitely be making a few more.

Pattern by Violette Field Threads
These are the matching pillowcase rompers I made for Alaire and the new baby girl that will be coming soon!
Pattern by Whimsy Coture Pattern Shop

I have decided to sell these rompers and I will be posting them in my shop soon.
You can contact me if you have any requests for them.

This is just a basic peasant dress.  I have made this pattern a lot and it seems to fit for at least two years in a row, which is a huge plus!

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. Hopefully you had good food and company.  We have been traveling for the last ten days and drove back yesterday.  It feels good to be home, but there is much to be done in the next few months.  I am sure I will be posting A LOT about some of our home improvement projects and decorating.  OH and of course some sewing for baby!
A lot of people have asked if my nursery is done... absolutely NOT.  I haven't even started.  The room still has to be cleaned out!  I am sure I will show you that embarrassing process at some point too!
